What is tooth mousse - should I use it?

Guess what, it’s not a toothpaste! It’s actually a topical tooth cream that provides extra protection for your teeth by buffering the dental plaque on your teeth from acidic foods as well as acids created by bacteria in your mouth. So in short, YES you should use Tooth Mousse! What’s better is that Tooth Mousse comes in a range of flavours and tastes great! I personally use Tooth Mousse just after flossing and brushing my teeth - I love the strawberry flavour!

GC Tooth Mousse® and GC Tooth Mousse Plus® is made from a protein called Recaldent® which is derived from cows milk. The Recaldent® is then mixed with fluoride at a concentration of 0.2% w/w (900 ppm) which is around the strength of fluoride found in your normal toothpaste. If you’ve had a lot of fillings or are finding tooth decay is a problem for you, GC Tooth Mousse and GC Tooth Mousse Plus® could be helpful to you.

We sell them at Hogans Road Dental, feel free to grab a tube the next time you’re here!

Why we trust GC and their Tooth Mousse products

GC Corporation is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and have an ethos typical of Japanese culture whereby technical excellence is combined with functionality, reliability, affordability and most importantly purity - the ingredients used in their products are derived from natural sources.

The company and its product have heritage dating back to the early 1920s where three young Japanese chemists Kiyoshi NAKAO, Yoshinosuke ENJO and Tokuemon MIZUNO got together to brainstorm a product that would ultimately become the cornerstone of one of the world’s largest companies supplying the dental profession.

Kiyoshi NAKAO completed a degree in Applied Chemistry at Tokyo Imperial University (now called the University of Tokyo) and in 1918 was working at Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce as an Engineering Officer. Two years later in 1920, his older step-brother wanted him to strive for a brighter future by setting up a company that one day might be successful. A motivated NAKAO, inspired by his sibling, talked to two friends from his university days Yoshinosuke ENJO and Tokuemon MIZUNO. They went onto to establish a chemistry laboratory and the rest they say is history!
